Dublin Champions!

Congratulations to our Girls’ Soccer team who won the Dublin Final of the FAI schools’ soccer blitz today.

They had an amazing day in Abbottstown and all of the talent of the girls was on full display throughout.

They won three games back-to-back, to make their way through to the semi-finals.

They fought valiantly in the semi-final and emerged victorious. This brought them to the final with a clean sheet!

The final was a very tense fair. We took an early lead but suffered heart-ache when the opposition scored a late equaliser and the scores ended 1:1 at full time.

This meant the only way to decide the winner of the Dublin final was to go to penalties! It was an anxious and tense few minutes for both teams.

After two shots each, the sides were level, at 2-2.

There was just one penalty each remaining!

Thanks to a great save by our goalkeeper, Aoife O’Shaughnessy, the score remained 2-2.

It fell to Amie Harman to take the final shot. She stepped up confidently and slotted the ball into the net, to win the game and become Dublin Champions!

This was a team effort from the start- the girls have trained so hard in recent weeks in the school and the results of their training were on full display today.

Well done to their coaches, Mr. Lally and Mr. McGeough!

We look forward to the girls competing in the Leinster finals, which will take place on the 16th of May in Navan.

Well done again, girls, the whole school is proud of you!
