Enrolment of 5th Class Pupils in Post-Primary School for September, 2020

Dear parents,

I am writing to you in relation to our 5th class pupils who will enrol in post-primary school in September, 2020. The board of management is anxious to ensure that parents are made aware of the options open to them for enrolling their children in post-primary.

Post-primary schools in the area

In our catchment area, there are two post-primary schools in operation:

Coláiste Pobail Setanta, Phibblestown

and

Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School

Enrolment for places is now open

Both schools are now accepting applications from our current 5th class pupils for enrolment in September, 2020. It is very important that parents make themselves fully aware of the enrolment process for both schools. These conditions are set out in each school’s enrolment policy. Enrolment forms for both schools were sent home earlier this week.

School places in both schools will be offered in accordance with each school’s enrolment policy, which is also available on each school’s website.

Information in relation to the number of places offered

The enrolment procedures for each school are as follows:

Completion of an enrolment form alone does not guarantee your child a place in their school of choice

Parents are reminded that completion of an enrolment form does not guarantee your child a place in a school. If schools are over-subscribed, they will not be able to offer places to everyone who has applied.

If there are more pupils applying for a place in the school than the school has available, the school will offer places to students in accordance with the provisions of that school’s enrolment policy.

The enrolment policy sets out the criteria by which places will be offered in the event of the school being over-subscribed. Parents are strongly advised to read the enrolment policy for their school of choice in order to be clear of how school places are offered by that school.

Offers of school places for September 2020 will made in June, 2019.

N.B. Parents should consider what alternatives are open to them, if their child does not get a place in their preferred school.

Make sure that you are well informed when making the important decision on which school to pick for your child

Choosing a post-primary school for your child is a very important step. As schools differ in how they allocate places, parents are strongly advised to read their enrolment policies carefully so that they can make an informed decision.

If you require any further information or assistance, please let me know.

Regards,

Enda McGorman,

Principal

Mary, Mother of Hope Senior National School
