A big thank you to our Community Garda, Katie, for speaking with our 5th and 6th classes about Halloween safety!
Alongside her colleague Seán, Katie discussed the potential dangers of bonfires and fireworks during the Halloween season.
Both class groups found the presentations incredibly informative. Here are some key pieces of advice shared by Katie and Seán:
If trick or treating, stick to footpaths and watch out for traffic. Let your parents know the route you are taking.
Keep everyone well back from any fireworks display or bonfire.
Never use illegal fireworks. If there are fireworks nearby, never return to a lit firework. Wait 20 minutes and place it in a bucket of water.
Never handle or throw fireworks.
Keep your pets safe during Halloween by keeping them indoors.
Please report any illegal use or sale of fireworks to your local Garda Station.
