Congratulations to the children from 5th and 6th classes who took part in the Marathon Kids Final Mile event today at the National Athletics track in Santry.
In all, over 225 children took part, which is a wonderful achievement.
The children have bee taking part in the programme in school since September, and have been running for increasingly longer distances each day in school.
Today, when they completed the final mile in Santry, they will have run for a total of 26.2 miles- equivalent to a full marathon!
As well as building their capacity to run linger distance, the Matathon Kids programme also provided the children with information on health, diet and well-being.
Congratulations to all involved- pupils and teachers alike. This is a wonderful achievement for each of you!
