Exceptional School Closure

Dear parents,

As you may have heard by now, the government had made a decision to close all schools and colleges from today until Monday the 30th March as part of a series of measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. We will keep parents updated via the school’s website in relation to any further updates we receive.

We will also post information on the school’s website in relation to educational activities that children can engage with during the closure.

Our shcool blog has a section called Work to Do at Home, with cross-curricular activites for children to engage with. The link to this is here:

We also wish to advise parents that all school-related activities planned for the period of the closure will not now go ahead. We have confirmed with the parish that the Ceremony of Light and the Confirmation Ceremony itself have now been postponed. We will liaise with the Archdiocese to arrange an alternative date for Confirmation and will let parents know as soon as we have a date.

The words of the Minister for Education and Skills this morning seem very appropriate:

‘Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine – we all live in one another’s shadow. If there was ever a time for us to appreciate how closely we are connected, how much what we do matters to others, how much we rely on each other, this is it. This is a time where we all need to work together for the best possible outcome for our students.’

We wish all of our children, staff and families well in this unprecedented time of challenge. Stay safe, take care and look out for each other.

Yours Sincerely,

Enda McGorman Alma Moran Principal Principal
