It has been a busy first term for Ms. Greene and our Student Council Members. To give a glimpse into the Student Council experience, we spoke with two of our fantastic members, Kate and Ronan, about what being part of the council means to them.
Kate shared that she finds it exciting and rewarding to represent the school. She especially enjoys meeting new people, speaking at events, and having opportunities to use her creativity when planning projects. For her, being on the council means helping to make the school an even better place while building skills she can use both inside and outside the classroom.
Ronan explained that one of the highlights for him is being able to interact with the wider school community. He values the sense of responsibility that comes with listening to his peers and sharing their ideas at council meetings. Roan feels that the Student Council gives students a real voice in shaping school life, which makes the role both meaningful and enjoyable.
Both students agreed that joining the council has boosted their confidence and helped them overcome shyness. They encourage other students to get involved, noting how inspiring it is to hear such a range of opinions and to work together as a team toward common goals.
Take a look at all our Student Council have achieved in the first term!
September – Building Foundations
The term began with councilors exploring the core values of being a Student Council member. They discussed what effective leadership looks like, along with the roles and responsibilities involved in representing their peers. During these early meetings, students proposed reinstating the Yard Buddy Initiative for the Junior School—an idea that has since come to life.
October – A Warm Welcome
In October, the council proudly welcomed the French Delegates during their school visit. Members greeted the guests and spoke confidently about their roles, showcasing the pride they take in contributing to our school community.
November – Exciting Developments
Yard Buddy System: We are pleased to share that the Yard Buddy System has now been fully reintroduced and is running smoothly under the supervision of Ms. Macnamara. Our councilors have embraced their responsibilities with great enthusiasm.
Makerspace Area: Student councilors, in collaboration with the STEM Ambassadors, distributed labelled collection boxes to all classes as part of the development of our new Makerspace Area. The goal is to have this creative, hands-on space ready for students before the Christmas break.
Exciting times ahead in the new year as our group of students will be creating a mobile Lego trolley. Stay tuned for more details!
A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Greene for her dedication in guiding the Student Council, and to all our student members for the enthusiasm, leadership, and positivity they bring to our school. We are incredibly proud of everything they have achieved this term.
