Dear Parent(s),
Every year as Christmas approaches we, as a school community, take part in various activities which aim to help the children think of those less fortunate than themselves.
This year we have decided once again to support the Giving Tree Campaign organised by the Society of St Vincent de Paul. The Society of St Vincent de Paul will help over 30,000 families in the Dublin area alone this Christmas. The help includes providing new toys and gifts for underprivileged children and teenagers. By participating in the Christmas Appeal you can help provide these gifts.
The Giving Tree campaign is simple. We have sent home a tag listing a person and an age group - e.g. “Girl 0-6” or “Adult”. Should you choose to, your child can bring in a suitable gift voucher or gift (suggested minimum value €10) for that person. St Vincent de Paul will collect all gifts on Wednesday, December 13th.
The Giving Tree is a perfect way to match the gifts to the people the St Vincent de Paul need to help. This year, they are making a special request for donors to consider gift vouchers for older children, teenagers and adults as this promotes more autonomy for the families concerned and also facilitates efficient distribution.
We would ask that all gifts are new (no second hand toys please) and unwrapped. We are asked not to wrap gifts or send them in shoe boxes, as all gifts have to be sorted by the SVDP ahead of distribution.
Many thanks & best regards,
