Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB) is our fire, rescue and emergency ambulance service. It is the largest full-time brigade in the country. With 12 full-time stations and two part-time stations in strategic locations across Dublin they can respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our local fire Station is Blanchardstown Fire Station.
Today our third classes had a very special visit from our local fire fighters in Blanchardstown Fire Station
We are extremely grateful to Kevin Keegan, a parent in our school, who organised the visit to our school. The children in third class had a Fire Safety Talk in the hall to begin, from the fire fighters. The children learned some very important messages about personal fire safety, fire safety in the home and in particular fire safety at Christmas.
Following the talk, the children were brought to the 4th class yard where they were absolutely delighted to see and explore a fire engine. Our fabulous fire fighters gave the children opportunities to see the fire equipment and how it works. There were lots of questions, wonderful engagement and learning for our 3rd class pupils, teachers and staff.
Our local firefighters had a special request for our 3rd class teachers: to give our pupils a night off homework to bring some very important fire safety messages home to our parents today, most importantly to
Check Your Fire Alarm, once a week, on a Wednesday!
We would like to thank all of the fire fighters from Blanchardstown Fire Station for coming to school to teach our pupils about fire safety and thank them all for their ongoing work in keeping our community safe and protected.
Go raibh mÃle maith agaibh!
