During Intercultural Week, we celebrated the many cultures represented in our school through a variety of exciting activities and events.

The week began with a fantastic announcement from some children in 5th class, who welcomed everyone in a range of different languages. Throughout the week, classes welcomed parent visitors from countries including South Africa, Poland, Ireland, Nigeria, and Romania. They shared information about their cultures and traditions and brought in delicious food for the children to try. We are very grateful for the time and effort the parents put into preparing for these visits.

On Thursday, a wonderful intercultural exhibition took place in the junior school hall, with colourful and informative displays representing many countries. Each class had the opportunity to visit the exhibition and take part in fun fact-finding activities.

We finished the week with “Show Your Colours to the World Day,” where children dressed in national costumes or colours representing their heritage. At our whole-school intercultural assembly, we enjoyed poems, dances, and songs from a variety of cultures. It was amazing to see and celebrate the diversity within our school community.

Overall, Intercultural Week was a fantastic success and reminded us all of our school motto: “Many cultures, one community.”

A big thanks to Ms. Oakes and her committee for all their hard work organising this event!
