School Quiz Team

Our school quiz teams took part in three competitions this year, with teams formed from 5th and 6th after two rounds of testing. The first team was mainly 6th class students, while the second was made up of 5th class students. Both teams showed great dedication in preparing for the events.

In the Community Credit Union Quiz at the Crowne Plaza, 55 teams competed. While only the top 3 teams placed, our students gained valuable experience and really enjoyed the experience.

Next, we participated in the School Duel, recorded for Phoenix FM. Facing St. Brigid’s National School, we led going into the final round, demonstrating strong knowledge and composure under pressure. However, the last round featured high-scoring six-point questions, which allowed our opponents to edge ahead. We narrowly lost by just one question, but it was an exciting and closely contested match. Our school Duel will be broadcast on Phoenix FM sometime in May.

Our final quiz was the Blanchardstown & District Credit Union Quiz, where we competed against 22 schools. We finished in 6th place, just two points short of qualifying for the national competition in Portlaoise. It was a strong performance that highlighted the students' hard work and dedication.

The quiz team had a fantastic experience and enjoyed preparing for each event. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident in every competition. Looking ahead, we are excited for next year’s quizzes and will begin preparations soon. One key takeaway from this year is the importance of reading in developing strong general knowledge. We encourage all students to read widely, as it will greatly benefit them in future competitions.
